With climate change fast becoming a reality and with an increasing need for us to reduce our carbon footprint, it is now more important than ever to do everything we can to preserve our earth’s resources. One way in which you, as a consumer, can make a difference is to reduce the number of checkout bags you use. Even better, you could recycle and reuse the shopping bags that you currently have.

Here at #fbo, we are passionate about sustainability and being kind to the environment. To this end, we encourage our valued customers to limit the number of plastic check-out bags they use and to favour our reusable bags instead. Of course, we would never like to inconvenience you and we fully understand that sometimes it is simply not practical to reject a plastic bag. We are also aware that modern life is extremely busy and that sometimes we forget to bring our reusable bags with us when shopping.

When shopping at any of our stores, there are always shopping bags available to you. Our plastic shopping bags are made from recycled, high-quality plastic and are perfect to keep and then reuse for other shopping. By following this simple practice, you can do your part in saving the environment.

Once your plastic bags have been used many times, they will begin to show signs of wear and tear and will eventually break. When this happens, we recommend having them recycled instead of throwing them into your regular rubbish bin (where the bags will end up in a landfill).

Did you know that it takes a lot of energy to recycle plastics? Even though this is a better option than plastics becoming landfill rubbish, it still does have a small, negative impact on the environment.

If you would like to make an even bigger difference, why not buy a good quality shopping bag that has been made from recycled materials from us? Such bags last much longer and you will be making an even bigger difference and they only cost R5.

What type of shopping bag do you use when shopping at #fbo? Let us know!
