So, obviously the easiest answer is SHOP AT fbo! That is the best and easiest way to look stylish and fashionable on a budget but unfortunately, it’s not as easy as that.

Looking stylish always starts with good grooming. You can wear the most expensive and exclusive brands, but if are not groomed well … its not going to mean anything. Good grooming doesn’t come from expensive manicures, facials, and fake lashes. It is just simply being attentive to your nails, hair and skin.

Now that the basics are out of the way, here are some good tips 😉

  1. Purchase neutral colours & stick to basics

Neutral colours are the best base you can purchase think black, grey, navy, tan and white. They also serve as a huge time saver, eliminating the difficult decision of what to wear each morning and trying to match different patterns. Not a single soul will notice that you wear neutral-coloured blazers, trousers, and skirts on repeat when you’re mixing them with standout tops and accessories. Sticking to basics simplifies your look and keeps you stylish at the same time. Tip: Start with a great pair of jeans, heels and even a cute blazer, then add in a trench coat or leather jacket.

IMPORTANT: A basic wardrobe is not a boring wardrobe! The basics just ensures that your wardrobe can easily be mixed and matched with one another. You will also avoid a closer full of items you will never war.

  1. Purchase versatile

Try and focusing on items that will work for a wide variety of activities. Choose a blouse that can be worn to a brunch with the girls, and that you can transform into the missing piece that pulls a pat suite together. Purchase items that accommodate a variety of accessories and there you’ve got yourself a versatile wardrobe.

  1. Accessorise, Accessorise, Accessorise

The single handed easiest (and most affordable) way to give your neutrals a little bit of life is to match it with different accessories. It could be anything from scarfs, hats, glasses, belts or jewellery. Accessories can change a jumpsuit from a pic-nick outfit into a wedding outfit. Experiment and see what you can come up with. Keep it simple, more often than not a well-chosen accessory is more impactful than several pieces.

  1. Know your measurements

Know your size before going to the stores. Research the brands that they stock and look at their sizing charts. Then you know what sizes to look for when looking at a specific brand like Zara, H&M, Pimkie, Boohoo and all the rest. When possible, always stick to buying clothes that are your size or one size larger to avoid alterations.

  1. Make fashionable & likeminded friends

If you are lucky enough to have a friend who is the same size as you are and they have the same fashion sense, you better use it to your advantage. Clothes swapping is a great way to keep your wardrobe fun and exciting and you have a bigger wardrobe without breaking the bank. If you have friends who differ in size and shape, consider swapping accessories to spice up your outfits.

  1. Fake it till you make it

You might not have all the money in the world, but the world doesn’t need to know that. Pretend you are stepping onto a yacht every weekend and keep things neutral in all white and beige for a classic look that is priceless.

  1. Look after your clothes

Being a stylish individual means that you need to respect your clothes because they do a lot for you. Ensure that your clothes and accessories are well-kept. Clothes look their best when they are washed and ironed, it might take some time … but it is worth every second. Always air dry your clothes when possible to lengthen their life.

  1. See the bigger picture

When you go shopping, keep in mind what you already have in your wardrobe. If you have loads of black items in your wardrobe try and keep yourself from purchasing more black items so that you can expand your possible outfits. If you have many skirts but only 2 jeans, you should consider purchasing more jeans before getting another skirt.

The bottom line is that looking like a fashion star on a budget is possible. You just have to put some thought into your outfits and know what your personal style preferences are.
