Two of the most trending types of jeans at the moment are mom jeans and boyfriend jeans. Many people get these two jean types confused so here at fbo, we thought we would clear things up!

Mom jeans are all the rage at the moment and are currently the most sought-after jeans. These jeans first became popular back in the 70s with, you guessed it, moms!

Mom Jeans:

They feature a wide cut around the crotch and hip area, with a high waist, making them wonderfully comfortable to wear. Mom jeans were never meant to be high fashion items and they were considered to be a modest kind of jeans and were thought to be very practical to wear.

When the '80s arrived, mom jeans became popular with teenagers and young women as well and were highly fashionable at the time.

Wearing a pair of mom jeans, you will notice that they fit quite loosely over the hip and thigh area and make your back look flatter. This distracts the eye away from your lower body, gently flattering your figure.

Mom jeans look great on most body types and sizes as they shape the hip area beautifully. If you are self-conscious about your thighs, mom jeans are great as they are loose in this area and feel very comfortable.

Boyfriend Jeans:

Boyfriend jeans have in recent years also become quite popular and were a refreshing change from the skinny jean. They are baggy and loose, making them extremely comfortable to wear.

Although they are very popular right now, boyfriend jeans have actually been around for over 50 years! They first became popular back in the 60s when Marilyn Monroe wore them in the hit movie, Misfits.

These jeans are very versatile, and you can mix and match them into a wide range of outfits. They can be dressed down for a street or casual look or dressed up for a chic and sexy style.

As the name suggests, boyfriend jeans are the kind of jeans you would borrow from your boyfriend and they feature a straight cut around the hips, longer cut legs, a larger crotch area, and a lower waist.

Today, you can get some boyfriend jeans that are more slim-fitting and are cut shorter in the leg area. Take a look at FBO's selection of beautiful boyfriend jeans and you will see what we mean!

Like mom jeans, boyfriend jeans are great for all body types and can be styled easily.

So, what are the main differences between boyfriend jeans and mom jeans?

Well, the most striking difference is in the cut: boyfriend jeans are cut looser around the crotch and leg area, while mom jeans are baggy all over, most notably in the back and leg area.

The waist area is another key difference with mom jeans having a higher and tighter cut in the waist, while boyfriend jeans are cut straighter and shorter in this area.

Boyfriend jeans emulate men's jeans and mom jeans are more feminine in their style.

Finally, boyfriend jeans tend to be longer in the leg, while mom jeans are shorter.

If you can't decide between these 2 styles, bear in mind that mom jeans are currently trending much more than boyfriend jeans. In addition, they are more comfortable and flattering to wear, making them the natural choice for this year's fashion.

Ladies who want to enjoy jeans that have a more relaxed fit and are wonderfully casual will love mom jeans as they place comfort and practicality first.
