What is a LAY-BY service and how does it work at FBO?

With the world economy struggling due to the devastation caused by COVID-19, many people are under increasing financial pressure, and at fbo we offer a lay-by service for those quality brands you just have to have because you won't find it anywhere else at that price.

Here at fbo, we try to make life easier for our customers, which is why we offer premium quality, branded clothing at highly affordable prices. We also have regular sales that you can take advantage of. Our shoppers benefit from up to 85% off normal prices on selected items and you can pay it off over three months.

The good news is that we offer a lay-by facility that is available to all fbo customers in our six outlets: Kempton Park, Joburg CBD, Randburg Square, Springs CBD, Church Square, Lakeside Mall, Mall@Reds, and Atterbury Value Mart.

This means that premium, branded fashion is readily available to you, no matter how much you have to spare each month.

Although we do not currently offer our lay-by feature online, we are working on this so be sure to check back soon. However, we do have a Payflex option available for all fbo online shoppers.

Take advantage of our interest-free lay-by

Our lay-by service is interest-free, meaning that, unlike store cards or credit cards, you pay the price you see on the tag and nothing more. There are no hidden costs, high-interest rates, or dangers of debt: everything is transparent, simple, and easy.

Our lay-by facility is ideal if you need to buy new clothing for your kids, yourself or as gifts for your family this festive season, especially on a tight budget.  

How do I apply for the fbo lay-by?

All you need to do is visit us in an outlet, browse our collection, find what you want to buy, and chat with one of our friendly sales assistants.

They will help set up your lay-by and all you need to do is put down a 20% deposit, and then make 3 monthly payments. Don't worry, this doesn't take long and will be set up within a few minutes!

Once the 3-month period is over and you have made all your payments, the items are all yours!

The minimum spend required for a lay-by is R250 and you can put anything you want on lay-by handbags which are a fast-selling item and in high demand.

Remember to bring your ID book with you and decide whether you want to make the three payments via EFT or physically in store.

What if I need to cancel my lay-by?

Canceling your lay-by is not a problem. You can do this by visiting us and producing your original ID document. There will be a 10% cancelation fee, however.
